Me and the Method

Dedicated to my passion and adoration for animal care, I became a professional pet care provider in 2016 and I have been providing loyal and loving pet care and services to the people in my community ever since.

My Mission

My goal is to help every guardian I work with to provide security, enrichment, and a rich, trusting relationship with the animals in their care.

I pride myself on my patience, kindness, and competence — and my clients would agree. It’s why so many of them use my services on a regular basis. I understand that consistency and calm are hallmarks for the happiness of your furry friends and I strive to make their time with me genuinely rewarding.

My Training Method - Beginning with Gratitude

My work and training with canines is based largely in relationship-based behavior modification (RBBM) and is also influenced and balanced by study with a breadth of other techniques and approaches, including (most notably) Oregon Tails and Training Between The Ears.

  • Teaching the meaning of the leash as a tool for communication rather than control.

  • Helping guardians understand their canine’s psychology, physiology, and evolution, and how that plays into how their dogs understand them.

  • You first: a calm leader guides a calm pack.

  • Teaching you and your dog appropriate boundaries so that you can learn to respect each other.

Who I Am

After having taken my Australian Shepherd, Pippin, through a training program to address his fear-based reactivity, I saw firsthand what a difference an empathetic and thoughtful approach in training can make. This led to my joining the team of a local training company - Take The Lead Dog Training - in 2020 as a Canine Fulfillment Expert as I began my journey towards sharing their methods and techniques with others as a trainer.

Since then, I have been taking on training cases with dogs that need help with light behavior modification (jumping up, barking, etc.) and Obedience (leash walking, recall, sit, place, etc.). I have a special place in my heart for herding breeds (Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Cattle Dogs) and for helping high-energy dogs find their way to calm coexistence.  In the last year with Take The Lead, I was also the developer and trainer for our puppy classes, as I have seen firsthand how gentle shaping from an early age (and from the beginning of a new relationship with an older dog) can forever change the life experience of both dog and guardian.

If you are looking for guidance on how to become your dog’s best friend and how to let your relationship with them teach you how to be happier and more fulfilled in your own life, then I am 100% down to help you with that.
